RSVP for a Bargaining Update Town Hall on Wednesday, April 3!

Today, members of our elected bargaining committee and representatives from the UAW met with with the Weill Cornell administration for our first bargaining session. After introductions, we discussed each team’s expectations for negotiations, including a set of written ground rules proposed by Weill Cornell. Our team then presented our initial bargaining goals, which were ratified unanimously by a majority of the unit. Both sides expressed the importance of making upcoming sessions as productive and efficient as possible by building on existing standards at other unionized institutions.

At this meeting, we discussed the scheduling of future bargaining sessions and emphasized the importance of bargaining intensively to reach a timely agreement. We agreed that our next bargaining session will take place on April 17, 2024. At the session, we intend to propose articles establishing non-economic rights and protections that are critical for Weill Cornell postdocs. We will also be sharing information for how postdocs can observe future sessions over zoom to get a first-hand look at the bargaining process, as well as to show Weill Cornell that postdocs are unified in supporting our bargaining goals.

To hear more about today’s session and our next steps, please join us for a post-bargaining town hall at 2pm on Wednesday, April 3 in A-106, 1300 York. Click here to RSVP.

We were encouraged by this positive start to bargaining with Weill Cornell and hope to continue to have productive discussions moving forward. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us with any questions or thoughts, and we hope to see you at the town hall.

In solidarity,
