RSVP to the next Bargaining Session on May 21 at 9am!

Over the last week, a majority of postdocs have signed an open letter calling on WCM to bargain intensively, respond to all of our proposals, and meet the standards for basic rights and protections set by other unionized postdocs in NYC. Thank you to everyone who already signed the letter! If you haven’t signed yet, please read and sign the open letter so we can demonstrate the importance of scheduling more sessions in order to reach a timely agreement.

One week after the open letter started circulating online on May 8, WCM responded to 9 additional non-economic proposals. This is an encouraging sign and we hope WCM continues to make progress by responding to all our remaining proposals and providing additional dates in June.

Our next bargaining session is scheduled for 9am on Tuesday, May 21 on Zoom.

The more of us who attend and observe these sessions, the more effectively we can show the WCM administration that postdocs are engaged and unified behind our campaign for a strong first contract!

RSVP for the May 21 bargaining session!

After you RSVP, an organizer will reach out before the session to go over basic guidelines for how observers should conduct themselves during the session. You can also follow our bargaining progress using the bargaining tracker on our website.

Finally, we wanted to share that UAW Local 4100 (which represents postdocs and researchers at Columbia and Mount Sinai) is hiring a full-time organizer. If you or anyone you know is interested in helping grow the postdoctoral labor movement in New York City, you can find out more and apply here.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to us with questions or comments, or if you’d like to get more involved in efforts to win a strong contract!
