We are thrilled to share some exciting news regarding our efforts to form our union, Weill Cornell Medicine Postdocs United-UAW. After notifying WCM last month that over 80% of postdocs had signed up in support of forming our union, we have successfully reached an agreement with the administration on the terms for our union election. We are now poised to take a significant step forward: voting “YES” for our union!

Our union election will be held on November 14th and November 15th in BRB 204-C (second floor Belfer Research Building), at the following times:

  • Tuesday, Nov 14th: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM

  • Wednesday, Nov 15th: 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM

As postdoctoral trainees, we will have a historic opportunity. When a majority votes “YES” for our union, WCM will for the first time ever have a legal obligation to negotiate with postdocs as equals over our pay, benefits, and workplace rights. The more of us who participate in this important decision and vote “YES”, the more effectively our elected Bargaining Committee will be able to negotiate for improvements with the WCM administration.

Learn More at our Upcoming Town Halls

In preparation for the elections, we are hosting two informational town hall sessions. Make sure to RSVP to one of them here:

Thursday, November 2nd, 7:00 – 8:00 PM, Community Room of the 465 Housing Building, Roosevelt Island.

Friday, November 3rd, 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM, Weiss Building Room 305, Rockefeller University.

We encourage all postdocs to attend these town halls to get an update and answers to any questions you may have regarding our election, hear from unionized postdocs at other institutions, and engage in meaningful discussions with fellow WCM postdocs.
