Since coming into office, the Trump administration has continually attacked public research, including funding freezes, layoffs at federal agencies, cancellation of DEI-related grants, stalled grant reviews, and an attempt to cut NIH indirect cost rates. This administration has also affected our population through devastating attacks on immigrants and free speech, using research funding as a weapon to silence academic workers.
In response, UAW academic workers, including workers at our institution, have mobilized to defend public research, education, and immigrant rights. While these efforts have been extremely helpful in raising awareness and bringing attention to these issues, the Trump administration has continued these relentless attacks. It is more important than ever that we keep fighting back. Below are some upcoming events to build knowledge, raise awareness, and fight back at our institution and beyond!

Wednesday, March 26 at 3 PM – “Know Your Rights” Webinar: International scholars and allies will gather online to ask questions and hear from an immigration attorney about our legal rights and how we can enforce them. RSVP here.

Monday, March 31 12 PM – WCMPU-UAW Bargaining Session: Being an observer at our bargaining sessions is a great way to demonstrate support for our bargaining committee as they continue negotiations to win enforceable rights and protections. RSVP here for logistical information.
