The Trump administration has proposed a nearly 40% reduction to the NIH budget for 2026. Cuts on this scale would be devastating for researchers like us, upending not only ongoing research but the careers of countless scientists. Right now, our elected officials are debating the federal budget and will be voting on it by the end of September, so it’s critical that we demand clear commitments that they will vote no on any budget that cuts NIH funding.
UAW members from WCMPU and higher ed unions across the city and the country are organizing to fight back:
1. On Friday, September 5, at 3 pm, higher ed workers across the country will call representatives in Congress to demand no cuts to science funding in the federal budget. Can you join the phone bank? RSVP here.

On Friday, September 12, at 6 pm, we’re holding a citywide Town Hall at the Church of the Holy Trinity on East 88th St. Congressman Jerry Nadler has already agreed to attend, and others may join too.
