RSVP for the City-Wide Rally on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at 12PM
Right now, thousands of unionized researchers across New York City are bargaining new contracts with their employers. Our union siblings at Einstein (ERU-UAW), Rockefeller (UPROR-UAW), Mount Sinai (SPOC-UAW and ROCS-UAW), and Columbia (CPW-UAW) are all fighting for contracts, just as we were a few months ago.
In the face of attacks on research funding, international researchers, and healthcare, it is more vital now than ever for us to come together as unionized researchers to fight for contracts that protect international workers, increase job security, and allow us to focus on our work. On May 20th, researchers and our supporters will be rallying around the city as part of a day of action calling on our employers to work with us, not against us, by committing to fair contracts.
Researchers help deliver billions in grant funding and perform the groundbreaking research fundamental to our institutions’ missions. Unionized researchers, including researchers here at WCM, have used our collective power to successfully fight to defend and increase research funding, alongside research institutions. Despite that, these research institutions won’t commit to basic protections for job security and international workers.
We are a part of a wave of unionized academic workers and as such, build off each other’s wins. Stronger workplace protections for postdocs and researchers at our peer institutions will help us win better, stronger contracts at WCM.
Right now, the Rockefeller administration is trying to push postdocs to give up their demands for enforceable protections against discrimination, harassment, and bullying.
Increase the pressure on Rockefeller and join the rally, right across the street, with WCMPU and UPROR postdocs to tell Rockefeller University to ‘Work With Us, Not Against Us’, and demand a fair contract on Wednesday, May 20, 12:00 pm between York Ave and E 66th St!
