WCMPU belongs to the International UAW — the International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America — one of the largest and most diverse unions in North America, spanning auto, manufacturing, law, tech, and higher education. Learn more.
We are a tiny piece of this big structure:
· WCMPU is home to postdocs and fellows here at WCM. It is run by and for postdocs and fellows. We collectively bargain for our contracts and elect our own stewards and officers. Learn more.
· Local 4100 unites postdocs associates, fellows, and associate research scientists at Columbia (CPW), Mount Sinai (SPOC), and here at WCM (WCMPU). Together we set our own bylaws, hold meetings, and run campaigns like FundNYScience and Kill The Cuts to raise standards across academia. Learn more.
· Region 9A covers 34+ locals across eastern New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, and Puerto Rico — providing education, legislative power, and bargaining support and contract enforcement. Learn more.
