WCMPU-UAW Local 4100 – 1 position
All unit members having signed a UAW Local 4100 membership card and meeting the eligibility criteria, as outlined in Article 15 of the UAW Local 4100 Bylaws, are automatically considered nominees. In accordance with the UAW Constitution and UAW Local 4100 bylaws, eligibility requirements for candidates are as follows: candidates for UAW Constitutional Convention delegates and delegates alternates must have been a member for twelve (12) months prior to June, 2026, and candidates for the UAW National Higher Education Council must have been a Local 4100 member for a period of thirty (30) days prior to being elected. As a new unit, these requirements are modified for candidates from Weill Cornell Medicine. Some positions are “at-large”, meaning any member from the three units in Local 4100 can run. Some positions are unit specific – listed positions above labeled as “WCMPU” are restricted to members of that unit.
UAW Constitutional Convention
The UAW Constitutional Convention, held every four years, is the highest decision-making body of our union. At the convention, elected delegates from local unions across the country meet to set the union’s position on key workplace and societal issues and to consider amendments to the UAW Constitution.
The 39th UAW Constitutional Convention will take place in Detroit from June 15–18, 2026. Members of our Local will elect delegates to represent us at the convention. The number of delegates each local sends is determined by membership size.

UAW National Higher Education Council
In 2024, recognizing the importance and growth of higher ed membership in the UAW, the UAW established a National Higher Education Council, as well as a department to support the work of higher ed locals. There are over 100,000 higher ed workers who have either joined the UAW or are organizing to do so. More and more higher ed workers are refusing to accept the status quo and are organizing for a voice in their workplaces. At the same time, higher ed workers — and all workers — face severe threats from the incoming Trump administration. The new Higher Education Council is an important space to coordinate, share tactics and make national strategies at this critical time.
Membership Eligibility Description (per the bylaws):
Membership in this Local Union shall be extended to all employees who have at any time been under titles that come under the jurisdiction of this Local Union. Membership shall be defined as members in good standing as defined in the International Constitution.
Any eligible member in good standing who wishes to accept the nomination for the UAW Constitutional Convention Delegate, Delegate Alternate, or UAW National Higher Education Council positions must indicate their intention, in writing, including the position they wish to run for. You can only run for one position. The acceptance of your nomination in writing must be submitted no later than April 22nd, 2026 11:59 PM EST. Submit your acceptance to the UAW Local 4100 Elections committee by emailing elections@uaw4100.org. If you have any questions, please reach out to the Elections committee at elections@uaw4100.org.
Candidate Statements
Each candidate may write and submit a candidate statement of no more than 250 words. These statements will be posted on the UAW Local 4100 website if there are contested elections. Your mailing address, phone number, and personal email address must be included, but will not be counted toward the 250 words.
It is the responsibility of the candidate to submit the candidate statement, if they choose to have one. All candidate statements must be received by the time nominations close on April 22nd, 2026 11:59 PM EST.
Candidates Meeting
Following the close of nominations, all candidates in contested positions will meet with the Elections Committee via Zoom. This meeting will determine the order of names on the ballot and the method of mass communications, and address other concerns any candidate may have. This meeting will take place following the close of nominations, but before ballots are sent to members.
Election Dates, Times and Locations
In the event that the number of eligible candidates who accept nomination for the specified position do not exceed the number of vacant positions, such candidates will be deemed elected by acclamation and no election will be held.
If there are contested positions, elections will take place online from May 6th to May 13th, 2026. If you are a member of the Union, you will receive a ballot in your email and text messages once voting begins. If you wish to participate, you will need to sign a membership card for Columbia Postdoctoral Workers, Sinai Postdoctoral Organizing Committee, or Weill Cornell Medicine United.
